Game table fun

I wanted to share a project I did a while back. I created a game table that is well loved and well used. It's used as an art station, a game table and a place for cookies and milk when there are children around. It was a lot of fun to build and hopefully, will provide you with some inspiration to build your own. I chose cherry, walnut and maple for this project. I'm happy to share plans with you if you wish.

Dimensions of table are 36" square and 28" tall

The walnut and maple blocks were created by gluing 18" strips alternately together and then cutting them at 90 degrees to create the 2' x 2" squares. But there are only 8 blocks per side you say so why 18". The answer is that by the time you square the pieces and take a few sawblade widths out of the slab, you'll need that 18"

As you can see above the table frame is created with this leg hardware and then the top is secured with screws through the frame. Don't glue the top to the frame - it needs the ability to expand and contract with humidity changes. Double check the depth of the holes for the screws and the screw length to make sure the screws don't pass completely through the top. I used adjustable feet on mine because I have it in a sunroom where the floor used to be concrete slab and is therefore, slightly angled away from the house.
